Blurts of note:
I don’t hate my Congressman. I realized this evening what an extraordinarily diverse population he represents what with Ft. Lewis, poor liberalman’s Seattle, an Indian reservation as well as portions of Moonbatistan…
He was met with a tough crowd and except for a couple of brief moments of condescension he handled the crowd quite well and was likeable and engaging.
He admitted that under the bill we’ve seen the text of and are debating the specifics of you WILL NOT be able, in the future, keep a health savings plan.
He supports the private option but with a public one to “keep things in check and offer “competition” (I know). He wouldn’t vote on the bill as it stands now.
When asked if Obama was lying when he insists you will be able to keep your current insurance plan he said I abhor calling someone a liar in a spirited debate (paraphrased) yes.
Of course there was a Larouche douche with that ObamaHitler sign...and he was PHYSICALLY ASSAULTED
( Bystanders ultimately brought the man to the ground, crumpled his sign and discarded it ) for daring to mock Dear Leader and driven from the crowd. I asked one of the police officers if he was made to leave by them
( I was spitting nails as I watched him speak with the officers for a moment then walk out because it LOOKED as though he was told to leave) ... the officers said he left on his own and didn’t want to press charges....
Total highlight:
JR getting to ask his question at the end
(paraphrased because my jaw was on the ground and I was smiling at the same time) :
Congressman,
My question concerns the individual mandate. Where does the government derive the power to force private citizens into contracts with private companies under terms dictated by the government? Because the the concept is abhorrent to free men and women who, if they do not comply with mandatory insurance will be considered criminals under the IRS code, modified for this bill.
When Smith replied uh...um...uh...uh...um.... that they have the power (yea, I know ) and rambled on incessantly not answering the question JR reined him back in and informed him that under Article 2 section 8, Enumerated Powers is not there which caused more rambling until JR asked the question again and got more rambling...but you’re required to have car insurance to which JR replied the government isn’t forcing me to buy a car…
The crowd broke into applause, people came over to shake JRs hand and even when we left he was chased after by some guy and complemented on his statement and question. He was even complemented by someone on “the other side” for a “great question, wow”.
All in all it was a great experience and I do not hate my Congressman......and Lympians proved that THEY are the ones who are shouting people down and assaulting those with opposing views.
JR rocks!!!
