They stir up impressionable, less educated, misguided people. They supply them with a “bad guy.” Their logic and the logic of their loyal listers is one of blaming their falures on the “bad guy” because, lord knows, their failure is not their fault.
Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck are fire starters, and they are have influence on this hate filled, bigoted fringe of American society. Heck, Limbaugh even professed to want the same thing as Osama bin Laden, which was, the failure of our country and the failure of our leader, President Barack Obama.
Limbaugh and bin Laden are twins of deception and their tool of trade is deception. For Limbaugh and Beck this deception is packaged as outrage for the “culture” that is slipping away from good, hardworking Americans.
I’m sure they’re referring to people who look like me.
Let’s see how Limbaugh, Beck, and Osama stack up comparatively.
Attack people with different ideology or beliefs, or concepts of relationships? Check.
Attack people who look or may believe differently or want equal rights across the board? Check.
Prevent conspicuously or passively the ascension of minorities to the corridors of power, and then explain it away? Check.
Attack out of hate and demonize people for no other reason than that they are different?
Check, check, check.
And they find ways to reinvent their bigotry. Here’s an example: President Obama has, to many, challenged the negative stereotypes associated with blacks.
But to the hard core bigot and resistors of change, this ascension to the highest office in the land has done nothing to quench their thirst. They continue to drink deep from the well of vitriol.
Instead of rejecting the overall stereotype when it’s proven not to hold water, they find a way to tie a knot and hold on to their biases and prejudices by creating “subtypes.” This serves the purpose of them being able to hold on to their bigotry while not acknowledging their bigotry. Remarkable.
You see, for this demographic they will do anything, sign on to anything, shoot up and terrorize anyone and anything, to maintain this grip — like the terrorist.
They will lash out with venom or violence to maintain the status quo, no matter how wrong, unjust, bigoted or divisive their actions or words may be.
And like a battered wife who finally musters up the courage to leave an abusive husband, the crime she commits in his twisted mind, is removing herself from his grasp.
He senses he’s losing control and snaps.
We see it all the time, and we have seen it here. Stay tuned. I’m sure more is to follow.
