Yep, step one to enlightenment: ignore the accumulated knowledge, lessons, and wisdom accumulated by billions of people smarter than you covering thousands of years. It’s the traditional sport of sophomores.
May I humbly recommend an alternative step 1: limit your goals. If your method leads to new insights on simple, testable questions, then by all means, proceed to wider goals. By “limit,” I mean begin by trying to define any six 5+letter words you used in the mission statement. That will give you a good idea of your probability of success.
