For the record, I generally don’t buy Columbian coffee—most of the coffee I get is kona (grown in Hawaii) or kona blend (because Kona’s damned expensive).
But, more on topic, I’ve recently watched Michael Palin’s mid-90s era travelogue “Full Circle” (which also exposes the horrible security along the Mexican border later in the set, though it takes a decidedly sympathetic view for the illegals, which irritated me, but I got through it by reminding myself he’s just a former Monty Pythoner, and not anyone whose opinion on world affairs I give a rats ass about—the rest of his travelogues are interesting and amusing enough to not worry about his occasional slip in this regard).
In it, he takes a tour of the streets of Bogata in the heyday of the drug traffickers (where it was essentially a riot in the streets all day every day with no police trying to break it up—Michael damn near got killed when people started throwing rocks at his car and tried to surround it to pull him and his BBC crew out for… well, you can guess for what. They had a quick-thinking driver (I almost said smart, but a smart driver would never have gotten them into that situation in the first place), though, who got them out of there as quickly and safely as possible).
Quite frankly, after watching that, I’m more inclined to believe Mother Goose and Grimm’s joke than I am the people filing the lawsuit.
