it’s what’s for dinner!
Or at least what I Hope for…

I went out on a limb today and tried this recipe from The Pioneer Woman. She demonstrates a recipe really well.
Being constitutionally incapable of not messing with stuff, I added mushrooms [sauted in Olive Oil before the meats] and used no-pre-boil noodles and real shredded parmesan chiz and actual mozzarella, and added a coupla pinches of brown sugar to the ‘mater paste, and lots of fresh ground pepper to the meats, but pretty much followed her recipe. Somehow I didn’t have as much grease from the meats as she did so no draining…
It took about an hour to fully bake [my oven is wonky - who knows...] and I took off the foil about halfway thru to let the top brown.
*Really* meaty, really rich, good. Next time I’ll add corn. And adjust the meats for more sausage. That stuff adds a lot of flavors.
[yes! corn in lasagna—and in s’getter sauce. Frozen sweet corn. Mmmmm, mmmmmmm good!]
With sesame seed baguette and salad with the new Marzetti gorgonzola dressing [good stuff!] a few pinole and croutons.
Speaking of ‘constitutionally incapable of not messing with stuff,’ I made chocochip cookies last night. I added my usual coupla cups of oatmeal [proportional to the amount of chocochips called for][yep - recipe on the bag on Nestle chips] but this time, I reduced the sugar by a third, added just a drop of almond essence and some chopped pecans. Oh, yes—good idea.
