Today’s think about it

In 1940s, after the Vichy French collaborators turned over control of France to the Nazi invaders, did the Nazis do as much damage to Paris as the Islamic youth?

Bush is a Liar!!

Monday, December 15, 1997 - Defence Secretary William Cohen shows amount of anthrax needed to kill half of Washington

The Pentagon has announced that all American servicemen and women will be inoculated against anthrax, the biological bacteria. According to BBC Washington correspondent, Tom Carver, the Pentagon has decided to initiate the programme amidst growing concerns about the possible use of anthrax and other biological agents as weapons by nations such as Iraq

Inoculating every one of America’s one-and-a-half million servicemen and women is going to take well over a year. The Pentagon has been deliberating about whether to go ahead with the programme for some time.

Money Corrupts

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Money is the mother’s milk of politics.

It is election time again folks! Take a look at who is giving and who is taking. So glad that John McCain and Russ Feingold solved the corrupting influence of money in politics!

MCCAIN: I think they are very good. I think the president will sign the bill—at least, I certainly hope he will. And he has indicated that he will. But have no doubt: The big money and the special interests that would lose their influence in Washington are doing everything they can to stop it at this point, because they know that if it passes the House again that it’s going to become law. And this would deprive them of their influence. And so the ferocity of the opposition has intensified.

Let the give-aways begin!

However, lawmakers sliced the president’s request for the Millennium Challenge program, a hallmark in Bush’s effort to spread democracy to underdeveloped countries by tying foreign aide to political, economic and human rights reforms.

Can someone ‘splain wtf’s WRONG with that? Oh yea, we just reward breathing.

Btw, we’re also giving $2.8 billion - $629 million above last year’s total-for AIDS.

Tancredo ‘08!!!!!!!!!!!!!

House Republicans tackling illegal immigration were reported looking closely at ending birthright citizenship.

They also were discussing building a barrier along the entire U.S.-Mexican border, The Washington Times said.

Those two ideas have floated to the top of the list of possibilities to be included either in an immigration-enforcement bill later this year or in a later comprehensive immigration overhaul.

“There is a general agreement about the fact that citizenship in this country should not be bestowed on people who are the children of folks who come into this country illegally,” said Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo.

Birthright citizenship, or what critics call “anchor babies,” means that any child born on U.S. soil is granted citizenship, with exceptions for foreign diplomats.

House Speaker Dennis Hastert, R-Ill., was quoted as supporting a barrier system of fences in some places and electronic surveillance or vehicle barriers in others.

It’s. About. Time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh and the Hastert part? Um DUH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! JR says let’s start building a fence in San Diego and keep going east. Leave open the shitty parts and patrol them.

Capitalism Kicks In

our old friend; the Bitchslap of Reality

The potential release of a Lodi man accused of ties to terrorism is being delayed because a loan on one of the properties pledged for his release is reducing the home’s value as collateral.

...[Hayat’s attorney, Johnny Griffin III] had expected an East Vine Street home to have a $300,000 value. Combined with four other properties with an appraised value of $1.2 million, it would be enough to meet Burrell’s condition.

...Griffin said they will remove the lien from the house or find another home to include for the bail.

[U.S. District Judge Garland E. Burrell] ruled Friday that personal information about the property owners in the appraisals be sealed. He also removed the five property addresses from his bond order and removed the requirement that all telephones in Hayat’s home be subject to electronic monitoring.

Hayat has been held at the Sacramento County Jail since June 5, when he was arrested on a lying charge. His son, 23-year-old Hamid Hayat, faces two counts of lying and a single charge of providing material support to terrorists for allegedly attending an al-Qaida-sponsored training camp in Pakistan in 2003 and 2004.

The government alleged Umer Hayat lied to authorities when he denied his son had participating in terrorist training. Both men are U.S. citizens.

Anyone else get a niggling feeling that Burrell is being rather more than a little accommodating in this case?  or izzit Just Me™?

Just for a little perspective for those who live where the real estate market is somewhat rational, here’s a listing for a comparable property—at most five blocks away. The terrorist’s Ice Cream Man’s property is somewhere in the five blocks between this one and the freeway [99]. 2 bed/1 bath, 1,473 sf.  Listing Price $329,000.

....keep your dogs under your control at ALL TIMES. If you cannot keep your dog under your control then you’re a very bad pet owner and don’t deserve to have one.

I have had more dog encounters than I can even count and it’s all kinds of situations some very dangerous. And always because someone did not have control of their dogs!

As for little dogs....the guy said they tried to dig under her kennel. If SHE got out because of that little dog I imagine there’d have been a very bad huge problem. And one time I nearly got my arm pulled out of my socket when I came upon 3 Dachshunds while walking a Lab…
I kept control of my dog and got hurt because THEY did not.

I think this guy overreacted, but none the less he had his dog in control and the other guys was at fault. Besides, they just be following their instincts. My neighbors dog comes over to visit me all the time, I’ve made friends with him and there fore with his owner.

The bitch was on a run outside because bitches in heat are messy.

My only complaint was that he shot the animal outside his property. Although dog will breed through a chainlink fence if that’s their only opportunity.

If you can’t control your animal, and it keeps invading your neighbor’s property and causing damage, it’s going to die. In my state, if it had been chasing sheep, or killing chickens, not only would the cops not have done anything, the livestock owner would be able to sue for damages.

An AKC bitch that is accidentally streetbred loses value, and prize winning stud owners won’t allow their animals to breed on a bitch that can’t be certified as disease free.

A friend of mine had his four year old daughter’s face chewed by a neighbor’s bulldog. The multiple plastic surgeries on his daughter’s face cost my friend $33,000 over what his insurance covered. The dog’s owner never apologized, offered to help with expenses and a court said under Virginia law, a dog gets one free bite. IOW, even though the dog had bitten other people before, it got off because there was no formal complaint on record.
The dog owners kept the dog close to home after that, but one day it got out, came into my friend’s yard and my friend saw it and shot it dead with his pistol. Owners called police, filed a civil lawsuit. When the judge heard the whole story in criminal court, he fined my friend $30 and costs for discharging a firearm within 600 feet of a dwelling, and with that, the civil suit went nowhere. My friend said it was the best $30 he ever spent.
If his locale had leash laws, which we do here, then Shotgun Mueller was OK in my book. I love dogs, but in control of their owner, not running wild.
