An author and investigative journalist says the Bush administration is working on a plan that would essentially erase national borders for air carriers, perhaps paving the way for Mexican and Canadian airlines to compete with U.S. carriers for American domestic and international routes.

~SNIP~

He says in order to carry out the plan, the U.S. has already constructed five stations designed to give Canada and Mexico access to what is known as the Wide Area Augmentation System, which allows them to know the location of every U.S. aircraft—military as well as commercial.

“Mexico and Canada can’t run their airplanes into U.S. airspace without also knowing where our military airplanes are,” Corsi notes. “So we’ve just given away the national security system secrets about military aircraft in order to permit Mexico to run Mexicana and other Mexican airplanes.”

Too Late?

or do I need to get back onna bus

“There is an urgent national need for Muslims and non-Muslims to work together to create full and equal opportunities for civic and political participation of Muslim Americans,” ...before suspicion and mistrust lingering since the attacks on New York and Washington isolates them and sparks radicalism in their ranks, a study said on Tuesday.

..."Many Americans perceive Muslim Americans as not having fully and readily acknowledged the potential for radicalism within their community,” ..."The climate of suspicion and mistrust and the lack of engagement threaten to marginalize and alienate some elements among Muslim Americans to the point that the danger of radicalization becomes a real possibility,"…

We need to be extra careful that we don’t create a situation that is a self-fulfilling prophecy...

So, see, it would be our fault.  Again.

falling out

HATE preacher Abu Hamza has refused any more treatment from his prison nurse after finding out the man is gay.

The nurse, nickname Queenie, has been helping to wash and dress the convicted terrorist for more than two years.

A prison source told the Mirror the full-time staffer is openly gay and has a camp voice.

Officers at Belmarsh jail are said to be surprised Hamza, 48, has not noticed before.

Now the cleric is claiming it is against his religion and human rights to be treated by a homosexual. The source said Hamza’s solicitor wrote to the governor demanding his client is given a new regular nurse.

The prison service refused saying it does not discriminate on grounds of sexuality.

The source said: “The nurse is upset about it. He has spent the last couple of years doing everything for Hamza, even wiping his bottom.

“It shows how little respect Hamza has for others. The nurse dresses him, washes him, cleans his teeth, cuts his toenails, trims his beard and applies ointment for his skin disorder.”

USA!USA!USA!

Army Sgt. 1st Class Adin Salkanovic won’t spend a full 15 months in Iraq like the rest of the soldiers in his unit. Still, he knows all too well about the sacrifices of war.

The platoon sergeant with 1st Cavalry Division’s Troop B, 6th Squadron, 9th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, volunteered to rejoin his unit in Iraq after recovering from multiple gunshot wounds suffered in Buhriz, Iraq, March 6.

Salkanovic, 27, was leading a dismounted, eight-man reconnaissance team when 15 to 20 insurgents wielding grenades, sniper rifles and AK-47s started attacking from three different directions.

Pinned down on the roof of a building, Salkanovic and his squad returned fire. In a span of 15 minutes, Salkanovic was struck by three enemy bullets: one to his left index finger and shoulder and one apiece to his right shoulder and bicep. Two more enemy rounds nearly struck Salkanovic, but were stopped by his body armor – “the two that would have killed me,†he called them.

Salkanovic’s team managed to fend off the attack, eventually killing two insurgents. If not for the actions of one of his soldiers, Cpl. Cory Walter, Salkanovic is sure he would have died that day, he said.

“Corporal Walter is pretty much responsible for me being alive right now.â€

Salkanovic, whose wounds caused him to lose two liters of blood, was evacuated to Germany and later moved to Fort Hood, Texas, to recover. After two months of healing and rehabilitation, he was ready to head back to Iraq. He rejoined his unit, which is based at Forward Operating Base Normandy, May 15.

“As soon as (my doctor) cleared me to come back, I was on the first flight out,†said Salkanovic, a native of Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Suggestions?

**Popcorn Book—something kinda light and fluffy and inconsequential but really well-written, preferably humorous, historical or out of time, somehow, to be read while falling asleep.

[I just finished the Flashman series. [ Jenny!!] Even tho the lead character is despicable [in a lovable kind o’ way] I enjoyed the hell out of ‘em.  I blame the writing.]

take it away, TEDDY!

....................How much do they really know about this bill itself?  How much do they know about the fine print, the details that say one thing but mean something entirely different?  They say the fence will come first.
This is how they’re trying to get us to come on board.  The fence will come first.  Well, what does that mean?  Does it mean the fence will be authorized first or built first?  Does it mean that it will be started, and does it mean it will be finished?  I can sit here and tell you, folks, they’re going to do that fence thing first.  It could mean any number of things.  It could mean they’re going to talk about it first; it could mean they’re going to pass that first.  But are they actually going to do anything toward building it?  Our intelligence guided by experience on that issue alone says no, there already is money for a fence, and is there a fence?  No. .............................

hardly.....

If the effort to catch people illegally crossing the border here in the southern Arizona desert is a cat-and-mouse struggle, the Homeland Security Department says it has a smarter cat.

It comes in the form of nine nearly 100-foot-tall towers with radar, high-definition cameras and other equipment rising from the mesquite and lava fields around this tiny town.

Known as Project 28, for the 28 miles of border that the towers will scan, the so-called virtual fence forms the backbone of the Secure Border Initiative, known as SBInet, a multibillion-dollar mix of technology, manpower and fencing intended to control illegal border crossings.

If successful, hundreds of such towers could dot the 6,000 miles of the Mexican and Canadian borders.

But glitches with the radar and cameras have forced the project to miss its June 13 starting date, just as Congress focuses anew on border security in the Senate measure to overhaul immigration law.

and it’s this big

Federal officials confirmed today that they’ll remove a vehicle barrier placed on the wrong side of the US-Mexico border.

A US Customs and Border Protection spokesman says the fence will be rebuilt on the right side of the border.

Joint Task Force North from Fort Bliss, Texas built the barrier is 17 miles west of Columbus, New Mexico. But it encroaches into Mexico territory by from one and six feet along a 1.5-mile stretch.

Customs and Border Protection spokesman Michael Friel says the US government didn’t intentionally erect the five-foot-tall barrier in Mexico. But an aerial survey conducted in March revealed that parts of the structure crossed over the border.

The International Boundary and Water Commission, which determines the official boundary between the United States and Mexico, says the barrier had raised concern with Mexican officials.

RAAAAAACIST!!!

Here’s an idea.  [I scratched off the serial numbers so ya hafta guess whose it really is.]

[Let’s] welcome only foreigners
who will be useful to [our] society:

Foreigners are admitted into [our country] “according to their possibilities of contributing to national progress.” (Article 32)

Immigration officials must “ensure” that “immigrants will be useful elements for the country and that they have the necessary funds for their sustenance” and for their dependents. (Article 34)

Foreigners may be barred from the country if their presence upsets “the equilibrium of the national demographics,” when foreigners are deemed detrimental to “economic or national interests,” when they do not behave like good citizens in their own country, when they have broken [our country’s] laws, and when “they are not found to be physically or mentally healthy.” (Article 37)

The Secretary of *cough* may “suspend or prohibit the admission of foreigners when he determines it to be in the national interest.” (Article 38)

Federal, local and municipal police must cooperate with federal immigration authorities upon request, i.e., to assist in the arrests of illegal immigrants. (Article 73)

A national Catalog of Foreigners tracks foreign tourists and immigrants (Article 87), and assigns each individual with a unique tracking number (Article 91).

I mentioned on Saturday that a group in Denmark was planning to burn an effigy of Mohammed (instead of a witch) at the traditional midsummer festival.

Since then the group that burned the Prophet has contacted SIAD, who kindly uploaded the video for us.

The Danes made quite a production of the bonfire — the soundtrack has “Light My Fire†on it…

The sentencing today of an illegal immigrant caught up in an Eastern Shore prostitution ring turned into a debate on immigration policy.

Javier Merino-Torres of Mexico was sentenced to 45 months in federal prison despite a plea for leniency from his attorney, who cited the employment and social needs fulfilled by his client and others like him.

“He works here because there is no work at home,†the attorney, David Bouchard of Chesapeake, told the judge.

“What I’m suggesting is that we have created a monster because our economy depends on these people,†Bouchard said.

He suggested that the judge deviate from sentencing guidelines so his client can return home to his family as soon as possible.

U.S. District Judge Walter D. Kelley Jr. said he is bound by the laws passed by Congress to sentence Merino-Torres to a mandatory two years in prison for aggravated identity theft and an additional 21 months for transporting prostitutes.

“Mr. Bouchard has made a very eloquent argument about our immigration system,†Kelley said.

~SNIP~

...........Merino-Torres got involved with the prostitution ring to provide “a great benefit to the men who live away from their families.â€............

The bitch was on a run outside because bitches in heat are messy.

My only complaint was that he shot the animal outside his property. Although dog will breed through a chainlink fence if that’s their only opportunity.

If you can’t control your animal, and it keeps invading your neighbor’s property and causing damage, it’s going to die. In my state, if it had been chasing sheep, or killing chickens, not only would the cops not have done anything, the livestock owner would be able to sue for damages.

An AKC bitch that is accidentally streetbred loses value, and prize winning stud owners won’t allow their animals to breed on a bitch that can’t be certified as disease free.

A friend of mine had his four year old daughter’s face chewed by a neighbor’s bulldog. The multiple plastic surgeries on his daughter’s face cost my friend $33,000 over what his insurance covered. The dog’s owner never apologized, offered to help with expenses and a court said under Virginia law, a dog gets one free bite. IOW, even though the dog had bitten other people before, it got off because there was no formal complaint on record.
The dog owners kept the dog close to home after that, but one day it got out, came into my friend’s yard and my friend saw it and shot it dead with his pistol. Owners called police, filed a civil lawsuit. When the judge heard the whole story in criminal court, he fined my friend $30 and costs for discharging a firearm within 600 feet of a dwelling, and with that, the civil suit went nowhere. My friend said it was the best $30 he ever spent.
If his locale had leash laws, which we do here, then Shotgun Mueller was OK in my book. I love dogs, but in control of their owner, not running wild.

That’s my point, enough calls are a crime. Depends on the statute.

The relevant section of the US Code is 47/22:

“...makes repeated telephone calls or repeatedly initiates communication with a telecommunications device, during which conversation or communication ensues, solely to harass any person at the called number or who receives the communication...”

Even a congress member has the right to say, “Sir, you have made your point, I have heard your petition. I have other constituents and other responsibilities. I will consider further calls from you to be harassing and will report them as such.”

This sort of conduct trivialises and demeans US and gives our enemies sticks to hit us with.

“I called, my Congressman told me to f#ck off and hung up on me”, caller is the good guy.

“I called over and over, eventually my Congressman told me to f#ck off and I kept calling the poor overworked 19 year old intern until she had to call the cops to get me off her a$$” , caller is the bad guy.
