mama kinda looks like she is in drag.
He needs pom poms?
He could color his hair and shake his head.

No. Why can’t people who are weird or distracting be excluded or pointed in another direction. That stupid mother should have the sense to tell her son that being the mascot would be a great idea.

PatrickP, she seems like the type who would encourage him to be homecoming queen.

You mean to tell me all gays aren’t mentally challenged?

Why stop there, he should be a Doctor.  Don’t matter if he can’t do the job or pass the test, he’s special......
Perhaps he could be Obama’s personel Dr. might actually do something good for the country.

Would you let this guy do heart surgery on you?

Addendum to my last post:
I have the utmost respect for special needs children. I have dealt with them in the past, still do on occasion, and sometimes small things that may be normal speed bumps to us are very emotional to them. I am more than willing to help them and give them a hand or allow them to be part of our society. But they do have limitations. If the student body and cheerleaders all agreed to have someone be part of them then great. They deserve accolades.

But for his mother to think he’s being discriminated against is just plain wrong. I thing she’s out to make a buck. And make herself the victim.
In doing so she’s just making his future life tougher.

tct.. .I too worked with special needs children. Loved the kids, could not stand a lot of the parents.
The parent’s expectations of inclusion of their children are many times way more than the child can handle, or are capable of.

F’n Retards.
(The mom, not the kid.  The kid is our key demographic.)

dick, not-quite-dead white guy

I want to be an NFL quarterback and win a Super Bowl and I want to be Margaret Thatcher and save Great Britain and I want to fly by flapping my arms.
Somehow I and a couple hundred million other people didn’t get the qualifications for those things and found other things to do.  Are cheerleading squads open to any soul who walks up and says I want to be a cheerleader? They weren’t at my high school, and neither was membership in any other organization requiring a skillset if one did not have the qualifications. Go to hell Grundy. You’re too fucking ugly and unathletic to be a cheerleader. Try out for the football. Not the football team - the football.

When I was in high school, they had tryouts.  If you didn’t make the cut, you didn’t get to participate.  Cheerleading has only gotten more athletic and competitive since then.  In fact, it is one of the most dangerous extracurricular activities out there.  This woman wants to subject her son to that?!  He probably could have done some good as a mascot.  I thought being a cheerleader was all about supporting the team in whatever capacity was needed.  I see it is actually about making a political statement.  His mom is setting him up to play a victim the rest of his life.  She should be ashamed of herself.

growing up gay isn’t easy. Add in the complicating factors of being a mentally challenged, biracial guy who wants to wave around pom-poms in a small town, and you have a recipe for the most hellacious high school experience in Eastern Washington…

Now I am f**kin confused.

I keep hearing Obama is from Hawaii or Chicago.

Are there two gay, mentally challenged biracial guys wanting to wave around pom-poms?

What are the odds?

I’ll bet she made the School make him a cheerleader in the first place. As I read it the school didn’t have any male uniforms, and he most likely was a dork when they let him dance around. the brief videos of him came from his mother.
I read that the football cheerleads quit rather than have another season with him on the team (reading between the lines, not that they said so) so he had to wait for b-ball

“everyone has the right” - some principal

But not everyone has the ability.  Might want to remember that.
