I think the worst5 is over but the fucking politicians still do not understand. Brazil now has three hugh oil wells in the Atlantic that has made them independant of the middle east oil cartel. Yet we are still being robbed by the anti oil nuts. We must drill drill drill. Also prosecute oil companies and there excutives that are gouging us here. Which they are doing on a hugh scale. My brother in law has been in the oil biz thirty years and knows there is no justification for these prices.
Bestest sign I ever saw in a local business shop.
“We heard there was a recession. We’ve chosen not to participate.”
All I know for sure is that since the 2006 mid-terms, the price of gasoline has gone from a little over $2 per gallon to nearly $4 per gallon in many places.
Congress has done virtually nothing except bash Bush.
Unemployment has risen.
Homeowner equity has experienced losses of over $2 trillion.
Home equity has gone down by over $1.5 trillion.
Sources I read on this are several months old, so the losses are probably even worse. Somewhere around 2 to 3% of American homes are in foreclosure. This figure also will probably rise significantly in the next few months despite the Democrats’ attempt to legislate away the extremely poor judgment of lenders and mortgagers.
Democrats said it was time for a change in the status quo, and America voted for it, and we got it! As Barack Obama said, “My friends, we live in the greatest nation in the history of the world. I hope you’ll join with me as we try to change it.”
We don’t need any new legislation to fix most of our problems, whether they’re real or perceived. What we need is to enforce rules and regulations already in place, such as immigration laws. Existing tax laws in this country are so complex and cumbersome that IRS officials argue with each other trying to interpret the exclusions, benefits, deductions, penalties, and other features of the system. Some sources say that nearly a quarter of all the revenues collected by the IRS are spent in just managing the system. The printing and mailing costs alone are in the hundreds of millions.
Today the Democrats are trying to push through legislation which would essentially reward lenders and homeowners for their poor judgment in mortgage deals which actually were too good to be true. Naturally, the cost of the bailout will be laid on those businesses and consumers who didn’t try to buy something of outrageously inflated value with money they knew they’d never have.
Sometimes in life, as in business, you make a bad call. The job of government is not to pay your bills when that happens, but simply to make sure the unscrupulous bastard who took advantage of your ignorance is made to pay for his lack of ethics.
We all take chances and occasionally make foolish decisions as we go through life. The idea is to learn from the mistakes and stop making the same ones over and over. Successful people’s ratio of good to bad judgment calls is well over 2 : 1. When your ratio is inverted from that, it’s time you either tried another game or at least started listening to other advisors.
There ain’t no free lunch, and Lotto is NOT a valid retirement plan. I have friends who are center-cut liberals and are happy, well-adjusted, successful people. They also take responsibility for their own actions, pay their own way in life, and pay little attention to mainstream news, entertainers, ex-jocks, wannabees, looney-tunes, and Marxists.
I think it’s called common sense or being a grown-up or something like that.
And yet antoher episode of the ne-commie DriveBy totally lost media. Bwhahhahahaaaaaa
I have contacts with a number of South Florida millionaires and they have ALL repeated to me that the whole ‘recession’ is being fabricated and manipulated and will disappear immediately after the election next fall....
R claims to be a liberal (he’s not really) and he says that what the sign says is true.
Didn’t I read somewhere that unemployment is actually slightly less now than it was during the “boom” times at the end of the Clinton administration?
When you consider that such a large number of Americans receive their news filtered through the kidneys of the msm, there is bound to be an effect. The constant pounding of the bad news drums blocks out any sane and optimistic input.
It is tempting to redirect some uplinks to spread a new tune.
Economies run on information.
Trash-talking an economy actually damages it.
The left, the Dems, the press have been trying to destroy the economy for seven years, with pessimism beyond reason in the name of ideology.
They have failed, though they certainly have hurt a lot of people in the process.
Fucking traitorous assholes.
Every time someone starts going off about a “recession,” I want to punch them right in the mouth.
