I’m off to bed, wondering if I’m going to wake up to this news.

Iran has purged its entire financial structure down to local bank managers [to facilitate buying black market items] and has today bought nuke plans on the black market. [Frants wets itself and runs in circles; as per usual]

Iran has sufficient material to make at least 6 nuke bombs so even the hope of Israel bombing a facility is, now, useless.  Not to mention that Iran is harboring the entire senior leadership of alQ.

“Anybody who worries about [how/why we started in Iraq] doesn’t understand America!  We are a forward thinking nation who gets the job done!” [that from a fella named ‘Mansoor’… Listen sharp, McKinney.]

....Rep. Jean Schmidt (R-Ohio) was recognized at 5:20 p.m. Schmidt won a special election in August, defeating Iraq war veteran Paul Hackett, and is so new to Congress that some colleagues do not know her name.

She told colleagues that “a few minutes ago I received a call from Colonel Danny Bubp,” an Ohio legislator and Marine Corps Reserve officer. “He asked me to send Congress a message: Stay the course. He also asked me to send Congressman Murtha a message: that cowards cut and run, Marines never do.”

Dozens of Democrats erupted at once, pointing angrily at Schmidt and shouting repeatedly, “Take her words down”—the House term for retracting a statement. For a moment Schmidt tried to keep speaking, but the uproar continued and several GOP colleagues surrounded her as she sat down, looking slightly dazed. Presiding officer Mike Simpson (R-Idaho) gaveled in vain for order as Democrats continued shouting for Schmidt to take back her words. Rep. Martin T. Meehan (D-Mass.) yelled “You guys are pathetic!” from the far end of the Democratic section to the Republican side.

Just as matters seemed to calm a bit, Rep. Harold E. Ford Jr. (D-Tenn.) suddenly charged across the aisle to the GOP seats, jabbing his finger furiously at a small group of GOP members and shouting, “Say Murtha’s name!” Rep. David R. Obey (D-Wis.), who had led the chants for striking Schmidt’s comments, gently guided Ford by the arm back to the minority party’s side.

At 5:31, when order was finally restored, Schmidt rose again and said softly, “My words were not directed at any member of the House.” She asked that they “be withdrawn” from the record.

...Those voting yes on the resolution were Democrats Jose E. Serrano (N.Y.), Robert Wexler (Fla.) and Cynthia McKinney (Ga.). Six other Democrats—none of them from Maryland or Virginia—voted “present.”

We REALLY, REALLY, REALLY do NOT need to hear all of the wonderful details about the barium enema you gave yourself today. I understand that the person to whom you are speaking on your cell phone will find it terribly exciting and important. However, I don’t even care to hear if my wife has had a good enema. Does the word, “BLECH!” mean anything to you? I am not in any way impugning your choice of lifestyle, I just have an unshakable belief that any topic which approaches rectum maintenance should be avoided in restaurant type situations. Seriously. Even the guy making the Sushi nearly immolated himself.

Hollywood star JOHNNY DEPP is so shocked by the riots raging through France, he’s considering abandoning his home in the country.

The FINDING NEVERLAND heart-throb moved to Europe when life in Los Angeles became too violent.

He has since divided time between the two continents - but he fears France will be scarred permanently by the current troubles.

He says, “It’s insane, that setting cars on fire is the new strike.

”I went there (to France) to live because it seemed so simple.
“Now it’s anything but. I don’t know how they’ll recover from this.”

Despite all the political turmoil, Pentagon and congressional sources say many lawmakers already know about this plan. It was briefed recently on Capitol Hill, to Republicans and Democrats alike.

There’s a plan for withdrawing troops and all this BS flying around today is just a political dance. This all would be entertaining to watch except while the politicians dance, they’re stepping on our brave service men and woman’s toes.

I’ve never done one of these here “open thread” deallios before....but since it’s Friday night, I’ve been away from much of the news today and am heading back out for a bit....
I was hoping you all could catch me up on anything I’ve missed today and/or update us on the Congressional vote going on. I’ll be back after a good couple hour’s work-out. I need to blow off some steam and dust out the week’s cobwebs.
