President Barack Obama has gotten out to the golf course a lot—seven times as president—teeing up Sunday afternoon at Fort Belvoir most recently for a round of Father’s Day golf.
What does it do for him?
“First of all, I’m terrible,’’ Obama told CBS News’ Harry Smith, in the last segment of Smith’s interviews with the president aired this morning on The Early Show, a talk ranging from his rought golf game to his good dog Bo.
“It is the only time that for 6 hours… first of all, that I’m outside,’’ Obama said. “And second of all, where you almost feel normal. In the sense that you’re not in a bubble.’’ The president, asked what he didn’t know about being president, said, “I’m not sure you can ever anticipate what the pace of this is.’’So golf is a pace-breaker.
“There are a whole bunch of Secret Service guys,’’ the president said of his golf outings, “but they’re sort of in the woods.’’ (And for that matter, the press poolers who hold in a distant press van never even see the president’s game.)
“And when you’re up there… and you’re hacking way, and hitting some terrible shot and your friends are laughing at you.... you know… It feels as if,you know,-you’re, you’re out of the container....“Yeah,’’ said a knowing Smith.

We can say anything we want now! Even calling BLACK people FAGGOT as “the worst insult we can think of”! Oh the rich faggoty goodness!

The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) issued a press release Monday, slamming Hilton for using the slur.
“These are vulgar anti-gay slurs that feed a climate of hatred and intolerance toward our community,” said Rashad Robinson, senior director of media programs at GLAAD.
“For someone in our own community to use it to attack another person by saying that it is, quote, ‘The worst possible thing that thug would ever want to hear,’ is incredibly dangerous. It legitimizes use of a slur that is often linked to violence against our community. And it sends a message that it is OK to attempt to dehumanize people by exploiting anti-gay attitudes.”

Hating conservatives is ok because I hate them ( we’re in charge of who gets to be hated and why ).
A Lympian mook chimes in:
THE INSANE RANTING ABOUT Letterman’s “joke” was so typical of the real hatred existing TOWARDS the media and entertainment industry against anyone who is the slightest bit LIBERAL.
Not only do they get to choose who are oppressed and get to attack with impunity , it’s really THEY who are the victims!!

Conservatives don’t really believe in the First Amendment; they would really like to carefully control all speech within the USA to make it politically correct for conservative consumption.

it just keeps getting better:
Freedom of speech ring a bell? See what happens when you let right wing religious nut bags run things? They start to dictate what you can say. Chruch of England 2.0.

Wellp… so much for representative government.
A Republican lawmaker accused House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and congressional Democrats of “shutting down the process” in the House of Representatives to block his effort to investigate the national community organizing group ACORN.
Rep. Steve King, Iowa Republican, said in an interview on The Washington Times’ morning radio show “America’s Morning News” that Mrs. Pelosi and the Democratic majority had recently authorized an unprecedented change in House rules to curb the right of the minority to offer amendments to appropriations spending bills.
...
Democrats say the restrictions are needed to ensure Congress has the time to pass a dozen individual spending bills in the next few months to fund the government, while lawmakers also deal with health care and energy reform. Mr. King and other Republicans charge the rules violate the House’s traditions for debate and are meant to protect Democrats from politically embarrassing votes.
Hail, your one-party system.
It’s wayy more progressive, efficient, inclusive, bipartisan’n stuff.

The United States said Monday its invitations were still standing for Iranian diplomats to attend July 4 celebrations at US embassies despite the crackdown on opposition supporters.
President Barack Obama’s administration said earlier this month it would invite Iran to US embassy barbecues for the national holiday for the first time since the two nations severed relations following the 1979 Islamic revolution.
“There’s no thought to rescinding the invitations to Iranian diplomats,” State Department spokesman Ian Kelly told reporters........

Heeeeeeeeeey....and maybe even fireworks too*!
I am dim.
I guess I just don’geddit. First they claim to have hand-counted 47 million bits of paper in 4 hours, now;
“Statistics provided by the candidates, who claim more than 100% of those eligible have cast their ballot in 80-170 cities are not accurate—the incident has happened in only 50 cities,” [Iran’s Guardian Council Spokesman Abbas-Ali Kadkhodaei] said.
Oh, well… that’s ok, then… Right?
I mean rly - what’s with the dance? Why not just stand up and proclaim from the minni-rettes, “We know what Allah wants, we got him on speed dial. You little people just shut the hell up and do as you’re told.”
Why do any of these dick-taters spend any time or resources pretending that 98% of The People voted for ‘em [Saddam] or that anyone voted at all [Li’l Kim]?
Is it the threats and proclamations from the US? Is it the idea that a fooled people are more compliant? Who do they think they’re fooling, anyway? Not US, not the world, certainly not The People who live there....

The Supreme Court on Monday declined to take up Valerie Plame Wilson’s lawsuit against I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby, effectively killing the civil suit that accused key Bush administration figures of outing Wilson as a CIA operative.
Plame and her husband, former Ambassador Joe Wilson, had sued Libby, the longtime chief of staff to former Vice President Dick Cheney, for his role in leaking Plame’s name to the media at a time her husband was questioning the Bush administration’s claims against Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein.
Cheney himself; Karl Rove, the former White House deputy chief of staff and President Bush’s top political adviser; and former Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage were also named as defendants in the suit. The Supreme Court upheld an appeals court and a district court, both of which refused to hear the case over the last two years.
The Obama Justice Department followed the Bush administration’s lead in opposing the lawsuit, arguing the Wilsons have no grounds on which to sue the former administration officials.

“This administration — and our military is fully prepared for any contingencies,” Obama said during an interview with CBS News’ Harry Smith. The interview was taped Friday and broadcast Monday on “The Early Show.”
“I don’t want to speculate on hypotheticals,” Obama said. “But I want ... to give assurances to the American people that the t’s are crossed and the i’s are dotted in terms of what might happen.”
“What we’re not going to do is to reward belligerence and provocation in the way that’s been done in the past,” he said.

Some months back when I heard that Super Saturday would be no more, I wondered if there would be a groundswell of protest.
There was not even a whimper.
I will miss Super Saturday but more so I will miss the right those graduates of The Evergreen State College had to celebrate in their own unique way.
Super Saturday was a totally unique, decades-long Bacchanalia that is now gone. Somehow college students not being allowed to party because capitalism has turned sour seems cowardly.
Now I know that Evergreen has always been the oft-ignored stepchild of Olympia, but Super Saturday was that chance for the parents to come see what all the fuss was about.
That celebration however wacky, has sent off graduates to do great things for decades with the idea that their university celebrated it all – just a little differently – that no matter what life brings you, you don’t forget to dance.
I mean life may not be what we all expected, but at least we can dance.
I beseech Greeners, old and new, to fight for their right to party.

....at a graduation party Friday evening I noticed one of the kids (ten years old ) with a rip in her shirt and asked her what happened. She said her pin caught on the trampoline and it tore her shirt. I asked what her pin was and she reached into her pocket and pulled out an Obama/peace sign button.
I asked her why she liked it and she replied.....are you sitting down....
because Obama brought home the troops..........

A Mousavi supporter holds a toy gun in his hand to intimidate police and militia during a demonstration on June 20, 2009 in Tehran, Iran.
Barack Obama plans to make sure his administration finds everyone who’s not paying their taxes — and apparently hire them to work in government. The latest appointment to make an emergency call to H&R Block is Capricia Marshall, who worked for Hillary Clinton’s Senate and presidential campaigns until now. And while tax evader Tim Geithner’s appointment to run Treasury and the IRS still wins the irony competition, Marshall may come a close second....

I haven’t turned on my clothes dryer in over two months now having installed an awesome clothes line that I lurve. I’m trying to see how long I can go…
(hey, it can be a challenge in the PacN’west!)
So if I use the dryer, heat setting to “off” to remove the residual dog hair from my 4 throw rugs that I washed and hung on the line does that count?
