I think a fun thing to do when Lympians go on and on and on and on about how great Obama’s Apology Tour part2: the Muslims is for making US safer is to ask how can that be if most Muslims aren’t a threat to US...........

Hello, Hamas!

At 29, Tahani is considered a spinster by the standards of deeply conservative Gaza. So in her search for a husband, she turned for help to the best in the marriage business: the Islamic militant group Hamas.

“I gaze at all the men on the street and think, ‘Oh God, isn’t there just one for me?’” said the young woman with dark skin and honey-colored eyes, set off by a maroon headscarf.

Her application is among 287 from single women in the files of the Tayseer Association for Marriage and Development in Gaza. Photographs stapled to the files show Muslim women in headscarves, some wearing makeup, some smiling, others looking startled. They all want a husband, and the Hamas loyalists running the association are intent on finding a man for each.

Despite its fearsome reputation elsewhere, Hamas is known here for its cradle-to-grave welfare programs for the poor. It is a cornerstone of its political support in Gaza, where poverty is deepening as Israel and Egypt maintain an almost two-year blockade of the Hamas-run territory. Now, the group is branching out into matters of the heart.

This is our vision of humanitarian work,” said Wael Zard, director of the Tayseer association. “This makes people close to Hamas and makes Hamas close to the people.”.........................

today’s Lympians

May 27, 2009 On Saturday night or early Sunday morning, there were several incidents of vandalism using racial slurs. In the 3000 block of Citadel Court, the suspects spray painted the slurs on several cars and broke out windows to vehicles. A swastika was spray painted on the garage door of one residence.

Olympia/Thurston County Crime Stoppers pays up to $1,000 cash for information leading to the arrest and charges being filed of this or any other crime. Callers never have to give their name. Collect calls are accepted. Call 493-2222.

When President Barack Obama addressed the Muslim world from Cairo this week, more than 20,000 people outside the U.S. received free text messages about his speech.

A deputy national security adviser, Denis McDonough, said today that the State Department’s free message program helped spread the president’s message of engagement to nations with predominantly Muslim populations............

The text-messaging service was not available in the United States, however, because law forbids the use of taxpayer dollars domestically for the dissemination of propaganda.

todaze dingleberry

here’s a topic:
Crunchberries are not real berries (nor are they crunchy once smothered in milk).

On May 21, a judge of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California dismissed a complaint filed by a woman who said she had purchased “Cap’n Crunch with Crunchberries” because she believed “crunchberries” were real fruit.  The plaintiff, Janine Sugawara, alleged that she had only recently learned to her dismay that said “berries” were in fact simply brightly-colored cereal balls, and that although the product did contain some strawberry fruit concentrate, it was not otherwise redeemed by fruit.  She sued, on behalf of herself and all similarly situated consumers who also apparently believed that there are fields somewhere in our land thronged by crunchberry bushes.

According to the complaint, Sugawara and other consumers were misled not only by the use of the word “berries” in the name, but also by the front of the box, which features the product’s namesake, Cap’n Crunch, aggressively “thrusting a spoonful of ‘Crunchberries’ at the prospective buyer.”........

And Froot loops do not contain real froot.

I ...... applaud his efforts at reaching out to Muslims. GWB would never have done such a thing; he was content to broadly categorize every Muslim as a terrorist and call it a day.
Lisa Kern

10/17/2006:

The end of the Muslim month of fasting is ‘a good time to reflect on the values we hold in common,’ US President George W Bush said Monday night while hosting an Eid al-Fitr dinner at the White House.

The Muslim guests of the president and First Lady Laura Bush included police officers and medics who worked at the scene of the September 11 attacks five years ago in New York City, US diplomats, a military doctor, a Navy chaplain and other military veterans of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Bush welcomed the dinner guests with a greeting of ‘Ramadan Karim.’ Monday was the sixth White House observation of the event during his presidency.

‘On this special evening, we celebrate the millions of Muslims that we are proud to call American citizens. We honour the many Islamic nations that America is proud to call friends,’ Bush said.

‘And we renew the ties of friendship that should bind all who trace their faith back to God’s call on Abraham.’

The White House served a Middle Eastern-influenced menu including spiced carrot soup, mint pesto-crusted halibut and chocolate macaroons. Eid al-Fitr is a celebratory meal to mark the end of Ramadan, the Muslim month of fasting.

‘America is a land of many faiths, and we welcome and honour the Muslim faith in our nation,’ Bush said.

‘Our society is enriched by our Muslim citizens. Your commitment to your faith reminds us all of the precious gift of religious freedom in our country. America is a more hopeful nation because of the talents and generosity and compassion of our Muslim citizens.’

I think a fun thing to do with Lympians when they go on and on and on and on and on and on about “all their rights” that BOOOOOOOOOSH took away from them (in between screaming for fairness doctrines and gun control and having right wing pundits dragged away to the gulags) is to ask them if they’ve gotten them rights restored yet..............

uh, not so much.

In 1922 the League of Nations mandated Great Britain to facilitate the reconstitution of the Jewish commonwealth in the Land of Israel on both sides of the Jordan River. The international community’s decision to work towards the reestablishment of Jewish sovereignty in Israel owed to its recognition of the Jewish people’s legal, historic, and moral rights to our homeland.  [RTWT]

Internet radio host Hal Turner — accused of inciting Catholics to “take up arms” and singling out two Connecticut lawmakers and a state ethics official on a website — was taken into custody in New Jersey late Wednesday after state Capitol police in Connecticut obtained a warrant for his arrest.

Turner, who has been identified as a white supremacist and anti-Semite by several anti-racism groups, hosts an Internet radio program with an associated blog. On Tuesday, the blog included a post that promised to release the home addresses of state Rep. Michael Lawlor, state Sen. Andrew McDonald and Thomas Jones of the State Ethics Office.

“Mr. Turner’s comments are above and beyond the threshold of free speech,” Capitol Police Chief Michael J. Fallon said in an e-mail announcing the warrant. “He is inciting others through his website to commit acts of violence and has created fear and alarm. He should be held accountable for his conduct.”

As sad and deplorable as it is it is doubtful that those who choose to live in deep denial and who refuse to see the facts and evidence before them will change their ways until something happens to them personally.  Even then they may not be willing to learn and admit their grievous errors.

When people blindly cling to beliefs in order to preserve their self-indulgent fantasy of reality and refuse to see the truth, such as abortion kills and so forth, it is near impossible to expect rational behavior from them.

Yet these people are partially responsible for the consequences since they tacitly support that which is evil and destructive through their selfish and self-serving refusal to face the truth.

The question is what can be done.  As in WWII and at other times denial will lead to greater catastrophic consequences and the need for a more unpleasant response.
