Mays, 50, was found unresponsive by his wife inside his Tampa, Fla., home at 7:45 a.m. on Sunday, according to the Tampa Police Department.
Police said there were no signs of forced entry to Mays’ residence and foul play is not suspected. Authorities said an autopsy should be complete by Monday afternoon.
“Although Billy lived a public life, we don’t anticipate making any public statements over the next couple of days. Our family asks that you respect our privacy during these difficult times,” Mays wife, Deborah, said in a statement on Sunday.
Mays was well known for his numerous television promotions of such products as Orange Glo and OxiClean. He was also featured on the reality TV show “Pitchmen” on the Discovery Channel, which followed Mays and Anthony Sullivan in their marketing jobs.
Born William Mays in McKees Rocks, Pa., on July 20, 1958, Mays developed his style demonstrating knives, mops and other “as seen on TV” gadgets on Atlantic City’s boardwalk. For years he worked as a hired gun on the state fair and home show circuits, attracting crowds with his booming voice and genial manner.
EGUCIGALPA, Honduras — More than a dozen soldiers arrested President Manuel Zelaya and disarmed his security guards after surrounding his residence before dawn Sunday, his private secretary said. Protesters called it a coup and flocked to the presidential palace as local news media reported that Zelaya was sent into exile.
The chief executive was detained shortly before voting was to begin on a constitutional referendum the president had insisted on holding even though the Supreme Court ruled it illegal and everyone from the military to Congress and members of his own party opposed it.
“I am deeply concerned by reports coming out of Honduras regarding the detention and expulsion of President Mel Zelaya,” Obama said in a statement.
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez and former Cuban leader Fidel Castro have both expressed support for Zelaya.
Yeah, there’s more to the story.
In typical fashion, the Associated Press has artfully omitted vital information about Mr. Zelaya’s political leanings, and the purpose of this referendum. The AP neglected to mention that Mr. Zelaya called this referendum in an effort to change Honduras’ constitution in order to allow himself to be re-elected. The current constitution prohibits a president from serving more than a single term.
The referendum was ruled un-constitutional by Honduras’s highest court. But Mr. Zelaya rejected the ruling and fired Romeo Vásquez Velásquez, the head of Honduras’s armed forces when he refused to help with the referendum.
Good thing he didn’t declare himself President for Life*.
Evidently, this was done by constitutional court order.

The Republicans who saved the energy bill: Reps. Mary Bono of California, Michael Castle of Delaware, Norman Dicks of Washington [ huh? ], Mark Kirk of Illinois, Lenoard Lance of New Jersey, Frank LoBiondo of New Jersey, David Reichert of Washington and Chris Smith of New Jersey.
And some of us are and have been trying to put an end to this madness really fricken hard for a really fucking long time, K?
Q: How do you think conservative talk radio has affected the Legislature’s work?
A: The Republicans [legislators] were essentially threatened and terrorized against voting for revenue. Now [some] are facing recalls. They operate under a terrorist threat: “You vote for revenue and your career is over.” I don’t know why we allow that kind of terrorism to exist. I guess it’s about free speech, but it’s extremely unfair.
Leftists always did have a problem using the words “free” and “fair” correctly.
...and even that may not be defined until after the vote.

Today’s sermon is from the Canada Free Press (bless their pea-pickin’ hearts*):
Obama and his Marxist minions thought that the 2008 election gave them an unfettered mandate to dismantle our Constitutional Republic by establishing a One World secular socialist powerhouse in Washington DC, forever running roughshod over the people and the states without any worry of revolt or reprisal. They were horrifically mistaken! This is not democracy, its fascist totalitarianism, and our Founding documents provide the people a peaceful remedy.
Our nation’s Founders not only anticipated a day when the federal government would become destructive of the desired ends, Life, Liberty, individual Freedom and Happiness, - they provided the mechanisms by which to thwart such evil and preserve freedom for future generations.
A worthy read, indeed.

The U.S. Senate proposal to impose taxes for the first time on “gold-plated” health plans may bypass generous employee benefits negotiated by unions. ...Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus, the chief congressional advocate of taxing some employer-provided benefits to help pay for an overhaul of the U.S. health system ...would shield the 12.4 percent of American workers who belong to unions from being taxed while exposing some other middle-income workers to the levy.

...the government dishonestly suppresses factual dissent and public debate in order to impose central-government control of the entire national economy?
Internal EPA email messages, released by CEI earlier in the week, indicate that the report was kept under wraps and its author silenced because of pressure to support the Administration’s agenda of regulating carbon dioxide.

Although Al Gore had been scheduled to appear in the Capitol with Nancy Pelosi today [Thurs 6/25] to stump for House passage of the climate change bill, Pelosi called Gore last night to cancel.
...Pelosi explained, “It’s a question of what was energy efficient for the Vice President. ...we had a great narrowing of the undecideds yesterday.”
It couldn’t be cuz thy discovered ol’ FatAl is talkin’ through his hat? Could it?? And which way were those “undecideds” falling?

The collapse of the “consensus” has been driven by reality. The inconvenient truth is that the earth’s temperatures have flat-lined since 2001, despite growing concentrations of C02. Peer-reviewed research has debunked doomsday scenarios about the polar ice caps, hurricanes, malaria, extinctions, rising oceans. A global financial crisis has politicians taking a harder look at the science that would require them to hamstring their economies to rein in carbon.
...Republicans in the U.S. have, in recent years, turned ever more to the cost arguments against climate legislation. That’s made sense in light of the economic crisis. If Speaker Nancy Pelosi fails to push through her bill, it will be because rural and Blue Dog Democrats fret about the economic ramifications. Yet if the rest of the world is any indication, now might be the time for U.S. politicians to re-engage on the science.
Ya mean, like, real “science?” Like with facts ‘n’ stuff?
Wow. Whadda concept.

“Under my plan of a cap and trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket.”
— Barack Obama, January 17, 2008, San Francisco Chronicle

CBO and the Joint Committee on Taxation (JCT) estimate that over the 2010-2019 period enacting this legislation would:
--Increase federal revenues by about $846 billion; and
--Increase direct spending by about $821 billion.

A Jacko source said: “Shortly after taking [an injection of potent] Demerol he started to experience slow shallow breathing.
“His breathing gradually got slower and slower until it stopped.

Mr. Obama may take a page from Jimmy Carter’s playbook in responding to Michael Jackson’s death.

You knew this was coming, right? You knew this was going to happen.
In my previous column, I wrote that there were many more ticking time bombs waiting for someone to light the wick, and here we are. We’ve seen police officers shot and a Holocaust memorial security guard shot – with school children inside no less.
