...I didn’t know this.
But hey, finding out this kind of stuff can’t possibly be worse than finding out some golf babe was a dude, right?
It’s about the fishin’. And the places I do it.
The Chattooga River in the Ellicott Rock Wilderness Area
Oh, then there are the funny things that I stumble across while out and about to fish for trout…
“Brown Bottle Courage” is playing there this weekend. Cool.
Well, all, using my super-secret connections, I obtained a picture of our lovely Headmistress from a year hence after all of us GEEEEEEEEEEEEEEKS are done corrupting her
The future looks bright for Sondra…
That’s all I really have to say about this story about a perv--gross, pathetic and gross
*not for the faint-hearted.
An old friend of mine agreed to order me sushi to lift my spirits and I thought I’d rub it in Sondra’s face on all the goodness that will be on my plate tonight.
It comes from Saburo’s in SE Portland, a resturant known for the quality of it’s fish as well as the over-sized portions.
I’m probably going to end up eating two or three times the amount a person should eat.
Off for some errands and the gawdanged library for The Stormtroopers (good way to find out how many GEEEEEEEEEEKS are in my Myst *snort*).
Am I required to dress up in some Star Trek costume or something?
Anyone have any secrets for a killer macaroni salad? I want the kind with mayo and eggs and stuff. And traditional little tube pasta.
or a why we wince?
I happened to overhear a female Fox News reporter who was live at Mardis Gras saying something along the lines of...“Making light of Islam is not allowed in this years parade”. She then went on say...“Yet we’ve witnessed several floats making light of the Pope and Catholicism”…
I’ve tried searching in vain for any news articles and/or blogs that confirm this. Just wondering if anyone else out there overheard her report this morning???
Update: Apparently, the Fox News reporter’s comments were in reference to a carnival parade in Dusseldorf Germany and not New Orleans…
The comment you were referring to was in reference to a carnival parade in Dusseldorf Germany, not New Orleans. It’s understandable that you could take that, since the broadcaster leading in and out of the story was in New Orleans, but they weren’t talking about N.O. Mardi Gras and Islam.

Thanks to Jason and Stepperg for correcting my error. I guess it was her New Orleans broadcast location that threw me off...as I was only half paying attention while dressing for work this morning.
BTW...here’s some more info on those Muhammad-free parades in Germany…
Picture German Chancellor Angela Merkel as a dominatrix, the American eagle with bird flu and the Iranian president in the shape of a nuclear bomb.
At carnival time in Germany anything goes—except, this year, mocking religion, a victim of the worldwide controversy over cartoons of the Prophet.
While political satire is encouraged, Cologne revellers took care not to cross the line and religion was a declared no-go zone amid a row over caricatures of the Prophet published first in a Danish newspaper that sparked worldwide protest.
Jacques Tilly, mastermind behind the parade in Duesseldorf that attracted 1 million people, said he regretted the limitation while acknowledging the situation had changed.
“Religion is in my eyes a delusion and hence should be mocked,” he said. “The humour depicted on the floats simply needs to have some bite otherwise there is little point.”
But one of Duesseldorf float depicted Pope Benedict wearing the jersey of the city’s battered football club Fortuna.
And on another float two jesters carried a coffin written “Freedom of Opinion” with a sabre stuck in.

So guys, just what do you get the man who has everything (ME! HA!) for his 40th birthday?
(besides a doctor’s appointment for The Finger)
If it’s a tangible thing and we can afford it and want it, we already got it so that’s out.

Sondra, in response to our discussion of Heinlein’s “Starship Troopers”
From Wiki’s page on the novel
While powered armor is Starship Troopers most famous legacy, its influence extends deep into contemporary warfare. Almost half a century after its publication, Starship Troopers is on the reading lists of the United States Army and the United States Marine Corps, and is the only science fiction novel on the reading list at all four United States military academies. When Heinlein wrote Starship Troopers the United States military was a largely conscripted force, based on mass over maneuver. The US Marine Corps is already close to Heinlein’s concept of the Mobile Infantry as an all-volunteer, elite, ultra-tech strike force. The US Army has initiated a transformation program which may give it similar capabilities in the future. This influence also extends beyond doctrine; some of the more mundane pieces of technology used in Starship Troopers that can be found in a contemporary infantry unit are night vision goggles, thermal viewers, and digital terrain maps with unit positions. According to the Urban Dictionary, during the 1993 Battle of Mogadishu, U.S. Army Rangers called their Somali opponents “Skinnies” after the aliens from Starship Troopers. In 2002 a Marine Corps general, when asked about the future of Marine clothing and equipment, remarked mischievously, “We are not ready to outfit them like Starship Troopers yet”. The Army has already taken steps towards powered armor warfare with Project Land Warrior, while the DARPA agency has invested $50 million developing an exoskeleton suit.
Read it Sondra, you won’t regret it....
We believe that these weapons, possessed by the superpowers and the occupiers in our area, are a threat to stability
Is this a COUP attempt?:
Inviting everyone to the White House for a protest rally to show that we do not accept the criminal government, illegal wars and the permanent occupation planned for Iraq and Afghanistan. For Nat Turner, For Martin and Coretta, For all the Torture and Assassination in Afghanistan, Iraq, Haiti and many others - We will not allow the Slave Holders that Still Prevail in this Country to Rule us any longer. Imprisonment and torture based on race, religion, resources or region is no different than the slavery we sought to abolish years ago. The Administration is Criminal and if they will not step down, we must storm in, show them how many of us do not accept a criminal government. How can we stand by and watch them kill our brothers, sisters, journalists and friends for their dollars?
We are calling on all citizens and governments in every country to stand with us. We are calling on all Member Nations of the U.N.; All Representatives and Justices in the World Court and International Criminal Courts; All Human Rights Advocates; All Soldiers and CIA agents and government officials who have been blackmailed or are in fear of the dictators to join us in ending this reign of corporate terror in our government. The World Criminal Courts need to incarcerate Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld for admitted crimes and known crimes of international scope. The Political Cooperative will put a new, temporary government in place that is comprised of people from Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and all the organizations that have finally made us aware of the truth of the savage practices and illegal policies of our government in assassinating our own officials as well as people throughout the world who oppose their criminal activity. We need all of you to save U.S. victims and global victims from their ongoing criminal activity. We are calling on the military, police, citizens and religious organizations to stand with us and help us to bring democracy back to the United States and by doing so, free the world from the wrath, occupation, theft, torture, blackmail and assassination by the Criminals in the United States Government. What they have done all over the world is much worse than what Saddam Hussein has done, so why are they not in jail too? They have admitted to international and national crimes, so why have they not been taken to Court too?

Captain’s Quarters as always has great comments:
*It begs the question, though: How can so many groups who have supported the disarming of the populace hope to initiate an armed uprising?
*I don’t remember Admiral Yamamoto’s exact words about the prospects for taking on the United States, but I’m pretty sure he didn’t say anything about “a giant papier-mache head behind every blade of grass.”
*When I read this, I imagine the Knights of Monty Python approaching the castle with coconuts in hand; clipity-clop clipity-clop clipity-clop… and I laugh. As soon as these “brave souls” are looking down the barrel of an M-16, you’ll hear nothing but RUN-AWAY! RUN-AWAY! and off they’ll go to lick their nuts like the dogs they are!

The Army has decided to reimburse a Halliburton subsidiary for nearly all of its disputed costs on a $2.41 billion no-bid contract to deliver fuel and repair oil equipment in Iraq, even though the Pentagon’s own auditors had identified more than $250 million in charges as potentially excessive or unjustified.
But in the haste and peril of war, it had largely done as well as could be expected, the Army said, and aside from a few penalties, the government was compelled to reimburse the company for its costs.
You know, that “peril” stuff has a way of “compelling”, and junk…

ABOARD THE USS RONALD REAGAN, Feb. 24, 2006 - F/A-18E Hornets assigned to the “Eagles” of Strike Fighter Attack Squadron 115 on Feb. 22 became the first aircraft launched from the flight deck of USS Ronald Reagan to drop ordnance on enemy targets in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Reagan is the Navy’s newest Nimitz-class nuclear-powered aircraft carrier and is currently on its maiden deployment. Commissioned in 2003, the San Diego-based aircraft carrier is part of a routine rotation of U.S. maritime forces in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations.
Sorry, sportsfans, but when people start looking toward the Olympics for their heroes something is very wrong with them.
When people start feeling badly for our troops because they deserved a hero and didn’t get one from the Olympics this year...hold the fuck on.
I’m not disparaging the hard work and dedication that it takes, just a few strenuous workouts a week kick my ass...but those aren’t the kind of skills that change the world, ok?
An athelete can be a hero, but NOT for for just being an athelete. A hero is something much more than that.
This was a real good rant for me. I just put my CPL Patrick D. Tillman KIA bracelet back on. I’ve never taken off CPL. Darrell L. Smith’s since I got it....but got to feeling badly about wearing Tillman’s with “just some guy named Smith’s”...but then why take away the honor of sharing a soul spot with Cpl. Darrell Smith just because you were once a famous football player?
This juxtaposition wasn’t contrived, either.
That sure is some productivity and privacy I’ll say!!!!
I can see it now..... We’re doomed.
NOW it’s PhotoShopped:
