Tancredo ‘08!!!!!!!!!!!!!

House Republicans tackling illegal immigration were reported looking closely at ending birthright citizenship.

They also were discussing building a barrier along the entire U.S.-Mexican border, The Washington Times said.

Those two ideas have floated to the top of the list of possibilities to be included either in an immigration-enforcement bill later this year or in a later comprehensive immigration overhaul.

“There is a general agreement about the fact that citizenship in this country should not be bestowed on people who are the children of folks who come into this country illegally,” said Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo.

Birthright citizenship, or what critics call “anchor babies,” means that any child born on U.S. soil is granted citizenship, with exceptions for foreign diplomats.

House Speaker Dennis Hastert, R-Ill., was quoted as supporting a barrier system of fences in some places and electronic surveillance or vehicle barriers in others.

It’s. About. Time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh and the Hastert part? Um DUH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! JR says let’s start building a fence in San Diego and keep going east. Leave open the shitty parts and patrol them.

Capitalism Kicks In

our old friend; the Bitchslap of Reality

The potential release of a Lodi man accused of ties to terrorism is being delayed because a loan on one of the properties pledged for his release is reducing the home’s value as collateral.

...[Hayat’s attorney, Johnny Griffin III] had expected an East Vine Street home to have a $300,000 value. Combined with four other properties with an appraised value of $1.2 million, it would be enough to meet Burrell’s condition.

...Griffin said they will remove the lien from the house or find another home to include for the bail.

[U.S. District Judge Garland E. Burrell] ruled Friday that personal information about the property owners in the appraisals be sealed. He also removed the five property addresses from his bond order and removed the requirement that all telephones in Hayat’s home be subject to electronic monitoring.

Hayat has been held at the Sacramento County Jail since June 5, when he was arrested on a lying charge. His son, 23-year-old Hamid Hayat, faces two counts of lying and a single charge of providing material support to terrorists for allegedly attending an al-Qaida-sponsored training camp in Pakistan in 2003 and 2004.

The government alleged Umer Hayat lied to authorities when he denied his son had participating in terrorist training. Both men are U.S. citizens.

Anyone else get a niggling feeling that Burrell is being rather more than a little accommodating in this case?  or izzit Just Me™?

Just for a little perspective for those who live where the real estate market is somewhat rational, here’s a listing for a comparable property—at most five blocks away. The terrorist’s Ice Cream Man’s property is somewhere in the five blocks between this one and the freeway [99]. 2 bed/1 bath, 1,473 sf.  Listing Price $329,000.

Feh. The amount of leaves we get on the ground each year, if burned, would power a small city for a couple of months.

“If Topless, They’ll Be Busted”

HL by LAT—repeat: NOT my headline

SACRAMENTO - Topless women holding a protest may be ho-hum in San Francisco, but at the state Capitol, police say such a display could corrupt children, prompt drivers to veer off the road and cause Cahleefohrneeiah legislators sex offenders to run amok.

The California Highway Patrol has warned members of an organization called Breasts Not Bombs that if they dare to take their shirts off during a protest scheduled at the Capitol on Monday, they will be arrested and possibly forced to register with the state as sex offenders.

I’d been thinking about a cadre of huuuuuge Manhattan construction workers doin’ their hootin’ ‘n’ hollerin’ best.

...sorry fellers.  I know y’all had yer ....erm, hearts set on this.

School board member Katherine Ross said the teacher received a warning for her behavior, which she doesn’t believe was intended to be inflammatory.
“If she had been in Traverse City on a street corner during a peace demonstration, it would be different,” Ross said. “But we try to keep politics at kind of an even keel.”

How do you surf?

I was reading QandO’s Right-Wing Blog Review (in which KisP was eggregiously omitted, we’re either A. Not intellectual enough, or B. Not pretentious enough), and I got to thinking about blog surfing habits.

How do you make your way around the Blogosphere each day? Personally, I’m not a favorites guy. I don’t keep folder after folder of links stored in my browser. there are a few sites that I hit every morning, but from there it becomes a totally random journey. Whether it’s using other people’s blogrolls to go to a site that shows as recently updated or following trackbacks on a subject that interests me. I guess it just seems more fun than having some sort of concrete routine you’re locked into each day. Another bonus is that you occasionally forget about a site you like and, after having not visited for a few days, are awarded with a bunch of content for your reading pleasure.

So, how do you get around?

Update! Another question (triggered by Airdale’s comment (See? I can mention him without bringing up what a large human being he is)): What’s your homepage? I’ve always thought it was a bit strange to have my own blog as a homepage since I already know what’s going to be there. I have Gmail as mine, since the first thing I check in the morning is my email. And you?

two questions and a comment

Whyinhell did Bush bother to go to Venezuela?

And most importantly, how much money do we give these fuckers?

I think the only US Presidential candidate that’s going to get my vote is going to be the one who shuts off these types of ingrates from any funding whatsoever.

Healthcare `nee Obamacare will be the **Little Big Horn** for the RAT Party. They have boxed themselves into 2 options: 1) attempt to get this bill into a law by scheming unconstitutional procedures or, 2) fail to get this bill made a law.  In either option the RATz will lose their majorities in the House and greatly reduce their numbers in the Senate. Why? Because option (1) will reap the wrath of all the conservatives(and some libtards) in the midterms this November.  Option (2) will destroy the “Cred” of the RAT Party`s ability to govern this country; they will have put us into HUGE debt for “zero” return.  The result: RATz can kiss their sorry asses goodbye from Congress & the White House for, probably, a decade!

The RAT label will be attached to the deficit for a generation of electoral campaigns and they won`t be able to wiggle out of the charge because they **owned** both Houses when they voted for this huge and unproductive expenditure of tax dollars that were not even there when they voted for all the debt increases!

Restoring the RAT Party back to credibility will be very problematic in my humble opinion (...but there will always be sheeples showing up in voting booths...)
